Talking About The Abstraction was founded in 2001 by Naoki Ichihara, Tadanao Yamashita, and Shingo Otsuka, drawing heavily from American Workwear in the 1970s-90s. The label gives a rustic, relaxed spin on American vintage, military, and workwear styles. Talking About The Abstraction was almost entirely unknown until the early 2010s, as it was very exclusive about where it could be sold. This changed with their first runway show in Spring/Summer 2013, where they boasted an impressive mix of casualwear and nomadic urban utilitarian gear. They quickly picked up momentum for their unconventional fits, experimental cuts, and Trompe L'oeil illusion pieces, which comprise most of the brands legacy within pop culture. Just as quickly as it burst on the scene in the 2010s, it dropped off again and the label is defunct as of Spring/Summer 2018.
