YOSHIYUKI KONISHI
80’s Wool Basketweave Knit Sweater (M-L)
Pickup available at Showroom Location - Ridgewood Queens
Born in Tsu, Japan in 1950, Konishi grew up around textiles through his family’s kimono business. Those early experiences with traditional fabrics and craftsmanship later shaped his approach to knitwear.
When he launched FICCE in the early 1980s, Konishi became known for highly textured sweaters built from complex yarn combinations and unusual patterns. His work often blurred the line between clothing and textile art.
Pieces like this show the more understated side of that design language, focusing on texture, construction, and depth rather than loud graphics. A strong example of the experimental knitwear that made Konishi’s work stand out.
Made in Japan.
